The Directory of Online Resources for Information Literacy (DORIL) is intended to provide librarians and other educators with a comprehensive, up-to-date guide to a wide variety of informational resources available on the World Wide Web that relate to the concept of information literacy. The Directory was first established in November 1997 and has been continually expanded and revised since that time. The Directory is made possible through the support of the School of Library and Information Science at the University of South Florida in Tampa.

It is sincerely hoped that users of the Directory will find it useful to their needs, and that they will support its continued growth and development by notifying the editor of additions and corrections.

Knowledge is of two kinds: we know a subject ourselves, or we know where we can find information upon it. -- Samuel Johnson, from Boswell's Life of Johnson, Vol. v. Chap. ix.
"But we're a university! We have to have a library!" said Ridcully. "It adds tone. What sort of people would we be if we didn't go into the Library?"
"Students," said the Senior Wrangler morosely. -- Terry Pratchett, The Last Continent
